News Anyway has reported that Cornwall’s first 15 ‘micro homes’ were given planning permission. These are self-contained one bedroom homes for use by people in urgent housing need in Cornwall. The site will be managed by Cornwall Housing, with each tenant receiving additional support as required to help them to find a regular source of income and a more permanent home. Residents are expected to move into their new homes in early July.

News Anyway has reported that construction is on the way for 55 new affordable homes at the Trecerus Farm development in Padstow. The development includes 28 social rented flats, bungalows and houses, these properties will range from one to four bedrooms and 27 family-sized shared ownership houses of two and three bedrooms. The new homes will be open to people with a local connection to the area.

According to ITV news, plans for a new village with more than 3,000 homes in Truro, Cornwall have been approved. Cornwall Council says it aims to make 35 percent of the homes “affordable for local people, together with housing for key workers, extra care housing for older people and people with disabilities and extra needs, retirement homes, pathway homes, assisted living and intergenerational housing”. Work on building the first 300 homes is due to begin in 2023 and more information on the project can be found on the Langarth Garden Village website.
