Data Scientists making sense of our affordable housing statistics

Data Scientists are helping us to provide insight for our affordable housing data. We’ve built up a lot of data over the years, but have only been able to share small insights into the vast amount of data that we have.

We are now working with 2 skilled Data Scientists, Charlotte and Charlie, to change all of this. Their remit is to understand more about the data we have generated in relation to affordable housing. By getting this data gathered and fine tuned it should enable us to share more details on key locations for affordable housing and the demographics.

Analyse and mine our affordable housing data

As Data Scientists, both Charlotte Pickering and Charlie Smith are going to “analyse and mine the data to provide insights into things such as which areas are most popular” and are “looking for any patterns/relationships through different filters of data so that we can better understand our customer base and what they are looking for.”

We are looking forward to seeing what they discover and will post updates on their findings.

What do these data scientists want to achieve?

Charlotte said, “The aim for the internship is to analyse and mine the data to provide insights into things such as which areas are most popular. I plan to try and distinguish if there is a relationship between locations and age groups and also the type of tenures people are looking for.”

Charlie said, “We have been gathering data provided by the website, in order to be cleaned and analysed so that the data can be organized and understandable to those using it. We are looking for any patterns/relationships through different filters of data so that we can better understand our customer base and what they are looking for.”

Paul Malone, our founder, commented “The likes of Rightmove, Zoopla and OnTheMarket in the UK are able to report good statistics based on their traffic. That is what we intend to do going forwards with the help of Charlotte and Charlie, but focus on the affordable housing sector. With over 3 million page views in 2020 and this number likely to grow this year based on current data we want to be able to report more effectively on the affordable housing market. This will include reporting on rental and shared ownership data.”
