Bebington is believed to be the site of the “Birth of England” following an English victory at The Battle of Brunanburh in 937 and reputed to be “the greatest single battle in Anglo-Saxon history before the Battle of Hastings”. In fact, the actual battleground is believed now to be picturesque Brackenwood Municipal Golf Club.
The town’s Anglican St Andrew’s Church is a Grade 1 listed building, recognized as possibly the finest old parish church on the Wirral and dating back to the 1300’s.
