Evolving your brand and communicating any changes

Our brand is constantly evolving. So we need to make sure our own brand awareness and presence in the housing arena is communicated correctly to reflect any updates and changes. It’s always great when you get contacted by marketing professionals and they actually tell us what our brand is about. That means our brand awareness is working and we are getting the right messages across.

The example of Amazon as a brand

However, that doesn’t mean you can rest on your laurels. Far from it! Brands develop and evolve. You only have to look at Amazon to see that it has developed its brand from being an online seller of books to offering a whole range of services which includes venturing into the technology space to compete with the likes of Apple and Samsung.

Brand awareness of Registered Social Landlords

Registered Social Landlords (RSLs) have done quite a bit of evolving over the last few decades. Not only are they offering accommodation to those who aren’t in work, they are now offering their homes to those on lower incomes who find it hard to find property in the open market. In some cases they are now in spaces where they are competing with Private Landlords. They are even developing homes for sale.

Brand awareness isn’t just about communicating what you do, it’s also your reputation

So what’s the problem with this? Nothing at all, however is brand awareness working for them? There is still the stigma about RSLs all being part of the council renting out council properties. This isn’t the case anymore. However, does your target market know that? Our clients have had to change the way they work and adapt. So this has to be communicated out to their target audience. Brand awareness isn’t only about communicating what you do, but it’s also about your reputation. So whether you are a Housing Association, Private Landlord or an Estate or Letting Agent it’s important that your brand is clear. People need to understand what your brand stands for. Not only that, but your customer service also needs to reflect the quality of the products and services you offer. So brand awareness in housing is extremely important as is the reputation about what you offer.
