We really are spoilt for choice in the UK when deciding where to live. Here we’ve listed out Top 10 places to live in the UK.
1. Skipton
Skipton has recently been voted one of the best places to live in the UK! This quaint northern town has everything you could need, including a vibrant main street, picturesque canals and an interesting castle. Add to this highly rated schools and a buoyant property market, and it is no surprise its top of the list.
2. Kendal
Located on the River Kent this lively market town is a highlight of the Lake District. With historic buildings, plenty of shops and within close range of the Yorkshire Dales, you will find plenty to see and do here.
3. Belfast
With its colourful history and welcoming Irish culture, Belfast is fast becoming a multicultural city worthy of a place on this list. The up market areas of South Belfast rival any other UK location and the vibrant Lisburn Road is fast becoming a cultural hub. House prices remain far below the UK average – perhaps it’s time to grab yourself a bargain.
4. Edinburgh
It’s perhaps a cliché to feature Edinburgh on this list, but it’s here for a reason. This beautiful city is a shopping, dining and leisure heaven. But be careful – the stunning architecture comes at a price, with houses in central Edinburgh much higher than other UK locations.
5. Richmond
This gorgeous market town was once voted the one of the best places in the UK. From quaint cobbled streets and the lovely castle, this town is a charm in Yorkshire.
6. Merseyside
We couldn’t draw up this list without mentioning our home county. It may not be a 1st choice for some but remember at Merseyside’s heart is Liverpool, European Capital of Culture 2008, a modern city infused with northern friendliness and a vibrant social scene. And across the Mersey to the west, you’ll find the picturesque towns of Wirral, such as Heswall and West Kirby. With property prices remaining competitive in relation to Manchester, Birmingham and London, Merseyside is worth considering with a lot to offer.
7. Barry
The beautiful seaside town of Barry in Wales deserves to be on this list of the best places in the UK for its coastline alone. There’s a real holiday feel in the summer and plenty of amenities to keep you amused when the tourists leave in the winter.
8. Willoughby on the Wolds
This charming village in Nottinghamshire has everything a small settlement needs. Surrounded by lush green countryside with a picturesque town centre, this village looks like it fell straight out of a story book.

Solihull features as the number one place to live in the UK on the Independents top ten list. First class shops, a picturesque high street and close proximity to the beautiful countryside mean it is high on our list as well.
