It is home to Gateshead International Stadium, the Metrocentre, The Sage Gateshead, BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art and Antony Gormley OBE’s world-famous Angel of the North. There are also public parks throughout the borough offering walking, sporting and recreational facilities.
Gateshead has an extensive public transport network, including local rail, bus and Metro train systems, which take passengers to Newcastle, North Tyneside, South Tyneside and Wearside in a matter of minutes. Newcastle International Airport is also only nine miles away.
