About the area
St Gildas is located around 10 minutes from the town centre which has a variety of shops and places to eat, including Sainsburys, Tesco and Lidl supermarkets.
Chard also has a museum and a weekly antiques, vintage and craft market held at the Guildhall each Thursday morning. Every Saturday, the town has an outdoor market too between 9am-1pm.There’s a swimming pool and gym located at the Freedom Leisure centre in town which also runs several fitness classes. Ariel Healthcare is the main GP surgery for Chard, there is also a hospital with a minor injuries’ unit.
Easily accessible
The nearest train station is around seven miles away in Axminster, and the nearby town of Crewkerne has a station too. They are both on the West of England main line offering services to Exeter St Davids and London Waterloo. There are regular bus services to Taunton, Yeovil, and the surrounding villages with several local Taxi firms also available. The closest bus stop is around 0.5 miles away.
Local attractions
There are plenty of National Trust sites such as Montacute House, Yeovil and Barrington Court near Ilminster. Cricket St Thomas Golf Club is a short drive away and you can follow Yeovil Town Football Club at their ground in Yeovil close by. You are only around a 20-minute drive from the coast with lots of lovely countryside to explore along the way.
