It’s important to note that the Royal Mail change of address service is not free. You can pay for it and they can redirect your mail to your new address for up to 12 months. You don’t have to use this service. However, it is extremely useful in case you forget to change the address. For example of a bank, building society or other service you get post from.

You should allow at least a week before setting it up. Having used it in the past it has been incredibly useful even if you think you have updated all the providers with your change of address. Utility Providers: Notify gas, water, and electricity companies about your change of address to ensure uninterrupted services where possible.
